So, reading many posts and researching topics on this forum indicated to me that in order to reap large rewards in this game one needs to take large risks.
It was with some trepidation that I pressed that button "yes I want to jump into lowsec" But I did it, heart pounding, blood sounding loud in my ears. My hauler appeared on the other side of the gate with a hold full of command centres. I actually felt a little faint when I saw my controls indicated that there were no pilots within shooting range. I, with shaking hands, aligned to my trusty ship to safe spot I had scouted out earlier in the day. What was only seconds felt like time was dilating but eventually the reassuring roar of my warp engine kicked me in the ass and hurled me through space. I arrive at my safe spot and was able to cloak my ship. "phew, first gate done!" I was now able to scan the next gate for anyone that might take a fancy to my new ship. 448.000 ISK and the command centres were at risk, but the lure of those two planets I had scanned in a 0.2 system kept me focussed. I was gonna make millions if only I could get to them and start my colony. The scan of the gate was good, all clear. Coming out of warp on top on top of the gate started my pulse racing again. The gate activated and I held my breath. "YES! This is actually going to work." All clear only one person showing on the local comms. channel in the system and my hasty, hand shaking, database searching showed him to be of good standing with concord. I quickly warped to my safe spot so I could deploy my command centres. The deployment could not have gone better. I was now the proud owner of two planetary stations and was extracting raw materials. I planed on making different P2 materials as my research showed that that was the sweet spot for profit with my current skill. Four days have passed and I now have 2000m3 of P2 materials to get out of low sec to sell them. I found a spike in the price on both items I made. But there is a problem, I have to get it to the station. "To the brave go the spoils" This would be simply a reverse of how I got it set up. After an hour of nervous energy I have the mats safely in the station that I need to sell at. I made 12 million ISK gross profit. Damn those export taxes! But I am deliriously happy. I took the advice I got from seasoned veterans and it paid off. I had tried this planetary stuff in high security space and only made a quarter of what I have now made in the same time in 0.2. Maybe next time I will not be so lucky, but I am going to have a lot of fun finding out.
Take a chance fellow newbies, it is exhilarating Good work! An industrial ship costs a bit over a million and you just made 12 with it. Don't get discouraged if you lose one. Welcome to the real Eve. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Miss Spent Youth wrote:My next plan is to start exploration to find rare ores but at the moment I have geared my skills to exploration and industrial things, so combat skills are lacking. I think my next move should be a low sec corp. Keeping my options open at the moment though. I wouldn't mine in low sec. I think you should, so I can loot you, but I wouldn't do it if I was you. IMO you're better off finding a 0.0 corp if you want to mine. Null sec has better ore and isn't full of pirates. You'll probably need to be in an exhumer to be able to tank the rats there, but i'm no miner so someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. If you really must try to mine in low try to find a dead end system with nobody in local.
